New England Give Camp
New England Give Camp is a weekend-long “lock-in” event when a techie pros, graphic designers and geeks of all kinds donate their time, energy and sleep to 20+ non-profits in order to build the non-profits capacity. Whether it’s database design, building integrative technologies for websites for the seeing-impaired or strategic re-banding — the volunteer techie pros can do it all.
We learned about New England Give Camp at the 2011 Social Innovation Forum Showcase and we had just missed it. For 329 days we waited. And waited. And waited.
When 2012 came around, I’m pretty sure I became a NEGC hawk, ready to apply as soon as the doors were open. Lucky for us, our application was accepted in April and we had 3 short weeks to prepare. It was a whirlwind.
For Future Chefs, participating in the 2012 New England Give Camp resulted in a new website that allows us to stay just as dynamic, social and current as our students, supporters and friends are.
Maps? Video? Social Media feeds? Mobile access? Sure- Future Chefs has that (now).
Special thanks to our wonderful team: Justin Russell, Justin Sun and Vamsi Gundlapalli Kumar. You three are patient, creative and above and beyond what I could ask for in a team. Thank you for giving your weekend to Future Chefs- your work, time and service is truly appreciated.
