How do I apply to Future Chefs?

High school sophomores and juniors may apply here. Future Chefs staff will email you within 48 hours.

Do you serve elementary school students?

No, our programming serves high school students. 

Do young people get paid at Future Chefs?

Yes, FC Delivers students get paid 10 hours a week during the school year. During our summer programming, youth are paid 25 hours a week. Future Chefs pays young people a just wage. 

Is your space available for rentals and outside partners?

Future Chefs’ kitchen and meeting space availability is constantly being updated. The best way to request availability is by filling out this form.

Do you have to be a Boston Public School student to participate?

You can apply if you are a high school sophomore or junior student and a Boston resident.

How can I support Future Chefs?

There are many ways to support Future Chefs! This page provides information on ways to donate. You can also reach out to info@futurechefs.net for more information about volunteering or in-kind donations.

How can I volunteer?

Future Chefs regularly needs volunteers in the kitchen during class time, typically Monday through Thursday between 4pm and 8pm. We sometimes need help with administrative projects and technology projects. Please email Future Chefs at info@futurechefs.net if you want to volunteer.

Is there parking at Future Chefs?

There is limited onsite parking for guests and requires pre-arrangement with our staff. Street parking is available. 

Will you cater my party/event?

Future Chefs has limited capacity for events. Please send a request for more information to info@ futurechefs.net.

When are your classes?

We run FC Prepares classes 4 times a year, and this introductory class meets twice a week Monday through Thursday from 4pm-7pm. Students in FC Delivers meet during the fall and spring semesters, and attend 2 classes Monday through Thursday from 4pm-7pm. 

Do you work with other organizations?

Yes, we partner with other mission-aligned organizations.

Is Future Chefs a restaurant?

Future Chefs is not a restaurant, we are a youth development/kitchen skills program. Some of our programming provides paid work-based learning. We teach knife skills needed for culinary careers and essential life skills needed in any career. 

Is Future Chefs a cooking school? 

Future Chefs is not a cooking school. In addition to preparing students with the skills they need to succeed in the culinary industry, students in our program learn important life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication skills needed for success in any career. Young people who are in our work-based learning FC Delivers program are earning while learning.

Can I still apply if I don't want to pursue culinary as a career? 

Yes, Future Chefs programming is about exploring culinary careers and learning essential skills needed for other careers. You’ll also have leadership opportunities, meet new friends, and expand your network and learn to cook [and you don’t need to know how to cook to apply]!
